Animals that Live in the Rainforest

The understory is a bit brighter and is home to birds mammals and reptiles. The canopy is the top layer of the rainforest and is home to birds mammals and insects.
Mammals
Mammals that live in the rainforest include sloths tapirs jaguars tigers howler monkeys spider monkeys and okapis. Okapis are a type of giraffe that is native to the Congo Basin. Though easily one of the most attention-grabbing animals of the rainforest it is estimated that the population of okapis has been halved.
Birds
Birds that live in the rainforest include parrots macaws toucans and eagles. African gray parrots are a type of parrot that is native to the Congo Basin. They are known for their intelligence and ability to mimic human speech.
Reptiles
Reptiles that live in the rainforest include snakes lizards and turtles. Boa constrictors are a type of snake that is native to the Amazon rainforest. They are one of the largest snakes in the world and can grow up to 18 feet long.
